Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Bakersfield, California!
Long known as a dusty hub for truckers and farm workers, Bakersfield has blossomed into an increasingly popular leisure destination. All along, Bakersfield has been a first stop for many top musical performers. The late Buck Owens performed regularly at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, which features country western veterans and hot up-and-comers. For more than 70 years the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra has made beautiful music. The downtown theatre district offers live performances with intimate dining, national touring shows, and vintage movies on the big screen. Overall, the city's slower pace often comes as welcome relief from nearby Los Angeles frenzy. Just west of the Greenhorn Mountains, southwest of Sequoia National Forest, east of the Sierra Madre Mountains and northwest of the Mojave Desert, Bakersfield provides easy access to some of California's greatest natural treasures along with several golf courses. West of town, the nearly extinct tule elk still roam wild at a reserve with observation platforms. Restaurant menus vary from home style country cooking or authentic traditional Mexican recipes to specialties from the Basque region in the Pyrenees Mountains served family style. Lodging accommodations vary from quaint inns and budget motels to full service convention hotels.
